If students and parents can reach a goal of 80% completed survey rating, a pizza party will be held on the 14th of April.
Maker space: Biomedical Engineering Week
Have you ever had a plan to build the next big thing? Students have the opportunity to build, create and explore in the Maker space at CMS. Each week features a specialty topic with smaller activities that relate. Biomedical Engineering encompasses a variety of different topics.
The broken bones activity will give students a chance to build a cast/ splint device.
The nano-particles activity will challenge students to create a way to keep their particles from sticking to the inside of a blood vessel.
The Alginate polymers activity will give students a better understanding of how pill coatings affect how medicines are absorbed by the body.
Students Who Attend After School Programs.....
"Attending afterschool programs can improve students' academic performance. A national evaluation found that over 40 percent of students attending 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs improved their reading and math grades and that those who attended more regularly were more likely to make gains. Students who attended afterschool programs have also shown that they benefit socially and have a higher school day attendance rate." (Naftzer et. al, 2007)
After school programming will begin on Tuesday, August 22nd. The Middle school Program begins at 3:25and wraps up at 6:00 pm. Programming days are Monday through Thursday. We also offer academic assistance on early out Fridays. Besides having the option of a nutritious snack, students are given the choice of which activities they are going to participate in.
